As part of ProZ.com's 25th anniversary celebration, we are sharing stories from our long-time members. Today, we have the inspiring story of Pat Melgar, a pioneering translator who has been with ProZ.com from the very beginning.
The Early Days
Pat Melgar’s career in translation began in 1997 when she was just starting out in the field. Armed with a dial-up internet connection, a Yahoo! email account, a laser printer, and a phone/machine, she embarked on her journey from her garage.
The Birth of ProZ.com
When ProZ.com launched in 1999, it represented a new horizon for translators worldwide. Pat recognized the potential and promise of this new platform and decided to join, becoming one of the earliest members.
Pat Melgar: “When ProZ.com appeared in 1999, it was really promising. So much so that I stayed by your side for all these years. I joined ProZ.com in the first weeks of its appearance and have carried my membership (#1164) in my heart ever since.”
As we celebrate this milestone, we are honored to highlight members like Pat Melgar, whose dedication and passion have helped shape the ProZ.com community.
Pat Melgar: "Thank you for everything, ProZ, and happy anniversary! Here's to many more years!"
Thanks to you, Pat! Thank you for your incredible support of the website. We wish to keep celebrating with you in all the upcoming anniversaries again.
As part of our 25th anniversary celebration, ProZ.com is hosting a special ProZ/TV event where Henry Dotterer, our founder and president, will answer users' questions in an exclusive interview.
