ProZ.com is celebrating 20 years with prize giveaways. The first prize giveaway will be held after June 15, and the second prize giveaway will be held after December 31st. In order to participate, you need to:

  1. have an active, paid membership at ProZ.com.
  2. have all the "required" fields completed in your ProZ.com profile.
  3. have completed your ProZ Pay™ preferences.

In 2017, as part of a previous ProZ.com membership campaign called The Open Road, the grand prize awarded was a new Nissan Juke. The lucky winner was Eszter Lelik, an English to Hungarian translator based in Hungary. Here you can see Eszter next to her new car. The dog did not come with the car, but we imagine he/she enjoyed the new ride too.

Round one

1. A home office makeover (3 winners)

Three winners will be selected for this prize. Winners will coordinate with ProZ.com and be provided with a budget to use towards changes/improvements/upgrades they wish to make to their own work space or equipment. A period of 4 months will be allotted for this. 

2. A personalized, professional website design by Websites for Translators (5 winners)

Five winners will be selected for this prize will receive the multi-page website design package offered by Websites for Translators. Winners will need to initiate the design process within 2 weeks of receipt of their prize.

3. ProZ.com pays for your registration for the BP 2020 translation conference (5 winners)

The BP conference is one of the most talked-about events for freelance translators and interpreters at the moment. Next year's conference will be held in Nuremberg. Five winners will be selected for this prize. Winners should register for BP 2020 when registration opens, and ProZ.com will pay for their registration.

4. A free CAT tool of your choice (5 winners)

Five winners will be selected for this prize. Winners will have two weeks to select a CAT tool and inform ProZ.com so that the purchase can be made.

5. Free ProZ.com training of your choice (10 winners)

Ten winners will be selected for this prize. Winners will receive 100 USD in training credit to use on any ProZ.com training course(s) they wish to take. The credit will be valid for a period of six (6) months.

Round two

Two winners will be selected for the trips for two. Winners will need to select the destination and coordinate with ProZ.com to arrange the details (flights, accommodation, tours, etc.) before the end of 2020.

Conditions for participating in the prize giveaways
  1. In order to participate in the prize giveaways, individuals must have purchased a current ProZ.com membership before the deadlines for the selection of winners (June 15, 2019 for round one and December 31st, 2019 for round two). Memberships which have been granted by any other means than through online or local purchase do not meet this criterion.
  2. In order to participate in the prize giveaways, individuals must have their ProZ.com profiles complete (all "required" fields completed).
  3. In order to participate in the prize giveaways, individuals must have completed their ProZ Pay™ preferences in their ProZ.com profile. Receipt or sending of payment using ProZ Pay™ is not required, simply the completion of the preferences that would allow a payment from a client to be sent to you via that payment method should the need arise.

Announcement of winners

Winners of round one will be selected randomly from the pool of eligible participants, and will be announced in a ProZ/TV broadcast from ProZ.com offices in Syracuse, New York, after June 15, 2019. The winners will then be contacted via email to notify them of their win, and will have seven (7) days to respond and claim their prize. Failure to claim the prize in that time span will mean forfeiture of the prize, and a backup winner will be awarded the prize. 

Winners of round two will be selected randomly from the pool of eligible participants, and will be announced in a ProZ/TV broadcast from ProZ.com offices in Syracuse, New York, after December 31st, 2019. The winners will then be contacted via email to notify them of their win, and will have seven (7) days to respond and claim their prize. Accepting prizes

Upon accepting their prize, winners agree to complete a short written interview, which will be included in the ProZ.com freelancer success stories section and also promoted through other channels (the ProZ.com newsletter, blog, announcements, etc.). Winners also agree to provide ProZ.com with images depicting them with their prize (or on their trip), which may be used for promotional purposes by ProZ.com. Failure to agree to these terms will mean forfeiture of the prize, and another winner will be selected to be the recipient of that prize.

Software and website design winners will have a period of two (2) weeks to receive their prizes.

Training winners will have a period of six months to select and attend the training course of their choice.

Home office makeover winners will have a period of four (4) months to use their makeover budget.

Winners of the trips for two will be able to take their trip at any time during the course of the year of 2020.

Prize forfeiture

Should prize winners be unwilling or unable to accept their prize within seven days, or unable or unwilling to receive their prize, another winner will be selected.

No transfer, no trade

Prizes cannot be transferred to third parties or traded/converted.
