Human response to a changing industry: how are freelance translators and interpreters adapting?

In March Henry and I gave a talk at the GALA conference in Munich. The talk was called Human response to a changing industry: how freelance translators and interpreters are adapting to technological innovation

The information presented in that talk has been expanded somewhat and published in written form as a industry report. members can access this report at

Thanks goes out to everyone who replied to surveys, took part in forum discussions, email exchanges, and calls in the first part of 2019, which all went towards compiling the information discussed in the report.

Happy about where you are now in your career?

We all define success in different ways. Do you consider yourself successful? Are you proud or happy about where you are right now in your career? Of professional objectives you have reached? Would you be willing to share with others how you got there?

A new site area, "Freelancer success stories", is under construction. The idea: display a collection of stories of freelance translator and interpreter success that:

  1. inspire others to take that next step in their career,
  2. allow readers to learn from the experiences of people who have been in the game for a while, and
  3. provide a view of what other professionals are saying and doing about the future of the industry.

Any member may submit their story to be included and featured in this upcoming area:
