Q. How did you get started in translation / interpreting / other?
Lorena: I began in 2008 when a friend of mine started to share her work with me and review all my translations.
Q. What are the most challenging aspects of what you do?
Lorena: I believe it is to keep the work/life balance since we can sometimes overwork and not have time to enjoy life.
Q. Describe your best or favorite experience with a client:
Lorena: I have a client who relies a lot on my opinion, and I value that a lot. We have been working together for almost 10 years now.
Q. What do you like best about where you are in your career now?
Lorena: After 16 years as a translator, I can now choose my clients and say no to rates and jobs that are not attractive to me.
Q. In what way(s) have you been successful?
Lorena: I reached a level where I can say no to jobs and rates that are not attractive to me.
Q. What has been the secret to your success?
Lorena: Professionalism, discipline, and respect towards the client.
Q. What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Lorena: Do not give up! In a world where everything changes so fast, patience is key. And remember: "No one beats a patient person."

Q. What are your predictions for the future of the industry?
Lorena: We will have to change and adapt to go with the flow of the world live in today. AI is here to either help us or break us. So, let´s join it and take advantage of it.
Q. What is next for you in your career?
Lorena: I want to slow down a little and start enjoying life more. After my father died in 2021, I realized that I had to take things a little slower. However, this is something that requires practice. So, I have been taking baby steps to change my habits. I used to work a lot, and I almost had a burnout during the pandemic.
