It's been another great year for the podcast, with a wide range of guests and lots of amazing discussions on translation and interpreting. It really has been an honor to host the show, talk to such fantastic guests and interact with our very supportive listeners.
We're growing as well, with streams up 127% and listeners from 77 countries around the world.
I think all of that warrants a BIG THANK YOU to all of our amazing listeners! Thank you for your support and please continue to share the episodes and help us reach even more people.
What about the most-listened-to episode? Well, that would be ¨How to Get Started as a Freelance Translator¨, which covers some of the essentials for getting set up as a translator, including some pitfalls to avoid, translation client types, business plans, translator websites and your ProZ.com profile.
You can find that episode here: https://anchor.fm/proz/episodes/How-to-Get-Started-as-a-Freelance-Translator-el6qch
It was also interested to see the ¨personality¨ that Spotify grants the listeners of our podcast. It's ¨The Devotee¨ as you can see below, with many listeners quick to support new releases of the podcast and play their favorite episodes over and over.
When I started the ProZ.com Translation and Interpreting podcast, I really wanted it to be a resource that people can learn from, and also dip back into over time - it's great to be able to listen to the latest episode but I hope there is still lots of value in podcasts that have been released some time ago.
The show also wouldn't work without our incredible guests. This year I have had the pleasure of interviewing Ludmila Golovine, Mindaugas Kaslauskas, Gabriela Lemoine, Moutaz MoheyEldin, Jorge Díaz-Cintas, Katty Kauffman, Marko Hozjan, Molly Yurick, Tess Whitty, Claudia Brauer, Delfina Morganti-Hérnandez, Jason Willis-Lee, Corinne McKay, Aziz Ben Soltana, Bruno Herrmann, Lauren Borden, Virginia Katsimpiri, Wendy Pease, Ady Namaram Coulibaly, Martina Russo, Adrian Probst, Vasiliki Prestidge, Kelsey Frick, Jessie Liu and Kole Wright!
If you have an interesting translation- or interpreting-related topic or story to share and would like to appear on the show, please get in touch!
And what about the recording of the podcast itself? If you'd like to see where one side of the ProZ.com podcast is recorded, take a quick look at the video below.
For those of you who are interested, I'd be more than happy to share my process. I record using a Heil PR40 microphone, Scarlett 2i2 interface and Zencastr.
I also record locally using Garageband (not everyone's cup of tea, but I find that it works really well) and then edit out any mistakes (we all make them!) and add the intros and outros. We currently use Anchor.fm for hosting and Otter.ai for transcripts.
If you'd like to find out more about making the most out of your voice, recording and editing, check out ¨An Introduction to Voiceover for Translators and Interpreters¨.
You can listen to the show directly from the website https://anchor.fm/proz and it's also available via all of the main podcast players such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts and Radio Public.
Happy listening!
