Need help translating a word or phrase? Term search and KudoZ™ provide answers

Written by Mike Donlin | August 26, 2020

ProZ.com offers solutions for help translating terms or short phrases. For help, site members, users and guests can either post a KudoZ question where ProZ.com users will suggest answers or use term search to find these answers through glossaries and previous questions.

As of this writing, over 3.7 million translation questions have been asked of the community.

How does it work?

The term search is available at https://www.proz.com/search. Enter your term or phrase and the desired languages. The search results will provide answers from KudoZ™ questions asked previously, glossaries and other locations. In the example below, "social distancing" results are shown.

If you don't find the term you seek, feel free to ask for translation help using KudoZ™.

The KudoZ™ network provides a framework for translators and others to assist each other with translations or explanations of terms and short phrases.

Register for free at ProZ.com to post up to 5 questions a day and become a member to ask 15 questions per day (60 per week).

After enough responses have come in, the most useful answer can then be chosen. The question and suggested translation are saved and from then on are available to anyone else.

The person who submitted the chosen answer is then awarded some KudoZ™ points. KudoZ™ points are a main criterion for sorting translators and interpreters in the directory.
